Baking mad accounts assistant Kirsty Nash decided to use her considerable skills to organise her own Macmillian Cancer charity fundraising \u2018coffee morning\u2019 at leading local firm RRP Associates by encouraging her colleagues to bake, buy – or do both!<\/p>\n
A truly scrumptious selection of cupcakes, muffins, chocolate brownies and a banana and carrot cake were brought in and put on display for staff and visitors alike. Kirsty received a fund raising package from Macmillan Cancer Support which included a pack of \u2018hundred and thousands\u2019 so that people could guess how many were in the pack while making a donation of \u00a31 and writing the number on a pad. A scratch card was provided to find out the answer at the end of the day.<\/p>\n
Kirsty came up with the unique idea of baking a cake covered in the \u2018hundreds and thousands\u2019 so that the person who guessed the number closest to the amount would win this special prize.<\/p>\n
Rodolfo R., Managing Partner at RRP Associates says \u201cThe staff at RRP Associates are always coming up with creative ideas on how to raise money for a wide range of charities and their colleagues are so generous.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fund raising cake sales are something of a regular feature in our offices and everyone is always delighted to buy a home made delicious cake. I think we\u2019re eventually going to have to have a fund raising \u2018diet week\u2019 but I am quite sure that won\u2019t be as popular!\u201d<\/p>\n
Kirsty says \u201cI just love baking and I\u2019m a big fan of the Great British Bake Off on TV. People always want to enjoy home made cakes so this just seemed like a good idea to help us support a truly great charity. We raised \u00a375 from just one day and I am quite sure everyone went home full of delicious cakes. It\u2019s so easy when you work for a company that does so much to support charities and the local community, because people are so willing to join in. I\u2019m really grateful to my colleagues for making our \u2018bake off\u2019 such a big success.\u201d<\/p>\n
And who won the prize cake? Kirsty confesses \u201cRather embarrassingly it was me! I had guessed the number closest to the one that was revealed on the scratch card. As I shared the cake around the office I had to tell everyone that I honestly hadn\u2019t counted the hundreds and thousands beforehand!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
