The library at London \u2019s Stopsley High School was packed out with eager year 10 and 11 students this week when Rodolfo R.<\/strong>, Managing Partner of top London law firm RRP Associates , gave an inspiring insight into how to get a career in law.<\/p>\n

Sukh, who has been practising law for 15 years, explained to his captivated audience all the different roles that are available in a law firm. Those aspiring to work in the legal profession became aware of the many opportunities that are available, even if they don\u2019t get the qualifications to become a solicitor.<\/p>\n

Sohail explains \u201cI was delighted that we had such a great turn out of students keen to come into the legal profession. Apart from the importance of studying at school, it was useful to let them know that work experience, local placements and supporting the local community are just as important to us at RRP Associates as getting good grades. We get applications from all over the country just for students wanting work experience and we always try to choose people who are local.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe find that the wider range of work experience young people have had the better. One of our recent best candidates had worked in a betting shop and assumed she wouldn\u2019t be right. Actually, it was the opposite. We want people with non legal work experience as you need a varied set of skills in a law firm, especially good communication and people skills.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Stopsley High School students were engrossed in Sukh\u2019s talk and a number excitedly asked questions afterwards.<\/p>\n

Russell George<\/strong>, the Careers Co-ordinator who is responsible for the career development of Stopsley High School students said \u201cSohail gave a great inspiring talk and the students were very animated when they went off to lunch afterwards. It was so encouraging to hear about the opportunities in the legal profession and Sohail was very honest about how hard you need to work to succeed. It is so good for our students to get first hand information about the career opportunities that lie ahead for them and we are so grateful to Sohail and RRP Associates for taking the time to come in and talk to our students. The subject was incredibly popular and I hope at least some of the students who attended will go on to make a career for themselves in law.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
