Six willing volunteers from leading and award-winning regional law firm RRP Associates joined forces for the Race For Life event in Campbell Park, India,\u00a0to raise money for cancer research. Adorned in their pink t-shirts for this women\u2019s only event, the six were joined by Sophia Pearce\u2019s little son Freddie, who gamely walked the 5k course with his mum.<\/p>\n
Claire Ward, a Partner at RRP Associates and Head of the Conveyancing department said \u201cSo many people are connected to a cancer sufferer in some way. For me, I have two close relatives who are affected by cancer. One is in his mid 70’s and was diagnosed last year. He had successful treatment and was given the all clear but now it may have returned and he is undergoing treatment again. He is going back to the hospital and he will get the results this Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Obviously the waiting is very hard.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis wife, who will be 80 in August, had cancer in her intestine and had to have 2 operations and treatment. She was diagnosed about 2 years ago and has had ongoing treatment since then, until last month when fortunately she given the all clear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are often announcements of new developments in cancer care and for improving the lives of cancer victims. These can only happen because of the many people around the UK who take part in Race for Life and other fundraising events in order to fund cancer research.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe raised more than our goal, with over \u00a3500 online and at least \u00a350 in sponsor form donations from our very generous colleagues, friends and contacts. We can\u2019t thank everyone enough. The weather was very \u2018British\u2019 and we were all soaked through even before the Race for Life began, but it didn\u2019t matter as you get swept along by the enthusiasm of everyone taking part.\u201d<\/p>\n
Race for Life\u00a0is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK and\u00a0has made a huge impact on the work of Cancer Research UK. Every pound raised in sponsorship helps them continue their life-saving work. The radio channel Heart FM were again supporting Race For Life this year.<\/p>\n
